National Pecan Day
National Pecan Day

We're nuts for National Pecan Day! Whether you call them pick-AHNs or pee-CANs, we can all agree that the best way to grow healthy pecan trees is to prep the soil with TELONE™ by Teleos soil fumigant before planting! Spring applications are currently ongoing in the southeast, and growers know that a good offense with TELONE™ is the best defense against nematodes.

Pecan trees are susceptible to root-knot nematodes and soil-borne diseases, which can wreak havoc on developing roots. Using a blend of TELONE™ (to target nematodes) and chloropicrin (to combat soil-borne diseases) is an effective one-two punch for all of your pecan pre-plant needs.

Treating with a TELONE™/chloropicrin blend ahead of planting creates a zone of protection that supports healthy root establishment and growth into healthy trees. Trials show that treating orchards ahead of replant helps improve tree diameter and canopy size, supporting increased yields and improved quality.

Remember, there's no coming back from a poor start (especially when you're investing in an orchard that will be around for decades)! Strong orchards start belowground.

Tomato roots under evaluation in the field
Tomato roots under evaluation in the field

The state of the root system is a key indicator of the health and productive potential of the crop. The presence of galls and deformations can be associated with nematodes or other soil pathogens, affecting the absorption of water and nutrients and compromising yield.

A preventive soil treatment reduces these risks and promotes a healthier and more balanced root development from the beginning of the season.

Apples | New Zealand

TriCal New Zealand is addressing apple replant disease starts from the ground up.

In this New Zealand orchard, Pic-Plus was applied as part of a pre-plant soil fumigation strategy to target soil-borne pathogens associated with apple replant disease. By reducing pathogen pressure before planting, we help create a cleaner, more favorable soil environment for young trees to establish and thrive.

Replant scenarios demand precision and proactive management—because early root development directly impacts long-term orchard performance.

At TriCal New Zealand, our focus is on delivering solutions that support healthier soils, stronger establishment, and more consistent productivity over the life of the orchard.

Golf Courses in the Southeast Often use CURFEW™ by Teleos

Golfers know that keeping the greens in pristine condition is crucial for a good round. But did you know that nematodes can wreak havoc on golf courses? Nematodes don't just attack crops—they can ruin turf, too! This is especially true in Florida, where sting, lance, and lesion nematodes cause big problems.

Remember, there's no coming back from a poor start!

Prunus Crops | California

Prunus crops, including almonds, are highly vulnerable to soil-borne challenges that can impact tree health and long-term productivity.

From Prunus Replant Disorder (PRD) to nematodes, Phytophthora, and root rot, these issues develop below the surface and can limit root growth and overall tree performance.

The difference is clear.
Untreated vs. treated soils can significantly impact tree vigor, uniformity, and yield potential.

Research-backed results from TriClor-treated almond orchards show:

  • 70% increase in tree height in the first year
  • Greater trunk diameter and up to 2x canopy size in early years
  • 63% yield increase in the first 3 years
  • Yield benefits lasting 7+ years

Proactive soil management is key to establishing a strong, productive orchard from the start. At TriCal, Inc., we help growers implement effective, tailored soil solutions.
