With its rich soils, diverse climates, and innovative farming techniques, California has cultivated an impressive array of more than 400 commodities. Remarkably, the state is the sole producer of key crops such as almonds, artichokes, celery, garlic, kiwifruit, and walnuts
With 50 years in the agriculture industry, 25 of those have been with TriCal Inc. Carlos reflects, “People often say to find a career you’re passionate about, and it won’t feel like work. I’m lucky enough to work with crops I love, and my job feels more like a hobby."
In the Fall of 2019, Dr. Kristi Sanchez began a Grape Field Trial in Modesto, CA, investigating soil fumigation methods and their impact on vineyard performance. The trial focused on assessing TriClor adoption in vineyards alongside the performance of TELONE™ II.
It was an honor to get invited by one of our Scientists, Dr. Kristi Sanchez. It was remarkable to see her in action out in the field, doing what she does best: helping diagnose nematode issues and providing support to growers throughout the Central Valley.
What the studies conclusively show is that in the weeks and months following soil fumigation with chloropicrin, soil microbial communities (bacteria and fungi) shifted in remarkable and quantifiable ways.
Change occurs slowly in a traditional soil production system. This allows berry growers to make fertigation mistakes that are not completely detrimental. Soil deficiencies are more difficult to correct. When fertigating in a substrate system, growers can change pH almost daily.
