TriCal, Inc. is proud to congratulate Nabin Poudel of the University of Georgia and Shiv Singla of the University of Delaware, the two recipients of the 2026 Storkan-Hanes-McCaslin Research Foundation Award.
Their research focuses on two important challenges in crop production:
Nabin Poudel is studying resistance to Meloidogyne incognita in squash, with the goal of identifying resistance that could support future breeding and nematode management strategies.
Shiv Singla is researching how mustard-derived glucosinolates and isothiocyanates can help suppress Phytophthora capsici, with the goal of improving the effectiveness and predictability of biofumigation.
Both projects address challenges that growers face in the field and highlight the importance of research in developing new and sustainable crop protection tools.
Since 1988, the Storkan-Hanes-McCaslin Research Foundation has awarded $702,500 to 99 students, providing annual support for research addressing important challenges in agriculture.
Congratulations to Nabin and Shiv on this well-deserved recognition!
