Wildfire smoke doesn’t just reduce visibility—it can create a serious respiratory hazard for employees working outdoors.
At Cardinal Safety Supply, we help organizations build practical wildfire smoke protection programs with the right PPE, training, and regulatory support to keep workers protected and programs compliant.
Wildfire smoke contains PM2.5, fine particles small enough to penetrate deep into the lungs. That’s why properly selected NIOSH-approved respirators are a critical part of worker protection. Cloth masks, bandanas, and standard surgical masks are not designed to provide the same level of particulate protection.
Key PPE options may include:
Proper fit is just as important as selecting the right respirator. Tight-fitting respirators require a good face seal, including following facial-hair restrictions, manufacturer instructions, and applicable respiratory protection requirements.
"The countryside teaches us that the best results require patience, dedication and respect for the land. Each season represents a new opportunity to farm responsibly and build a more productive and sustainable future."
— Various authors.
At TriCal South America we share this reflection because it expresses the commitment of those who work every day for a more sustainable agriculture. Each crop is the result of knowledge, innovation and soil care, fundamental pillars to strengthen the countryside and support future generations.

We just wrapped up our annual summer stewardship meetings in the PNW. A big congratulations to the entire team who worked really hard to prepare for these events, spearheaded by our PNW TELONE™ Specialist, Robin Matson.
The events took place in Moses Lake and Kennewick and featured a full slate of speakers from across the industry, including folks from WSDA, Trident Agricultural Products, Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc., L&I Division of Occupational Safety and Health, WA L&I, and Teleos Ag Solutions™.
We had more than 325 people in attendance over the two days, and we covered everything from pesticide recertification sign-up, effective PPE, FMP's/buffer zones, and general stewardship.
Remember, there's no coming back from a poor start, and that includes stewardship!
Strong crops are the result of countless small decisions. From preparing the soil to supporting healthy plant development, every step contributes to the success of a strawberry crop. It's the care given throughout the season that helps create healthy growing environments and productive harvests.

This is not how potatoes are supposed to look, but this is reality for potato growers facing high nematode pressure and soil-borne diseases.
Nematodes are a common pest in potato-growing areas, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. They are typically found in coarse-textured, sandy soils. The two most common nematode species are Meloidogyne chitwoodi (Columbia root-knot nematode) and Meloidogyne hapla (northern root-knot nematode).
Across the Pacific Northwest, growers are currently preparing their soil for fall planting—and they know a strong season starts belowground.
Pre-plant soil preparation with TELONE™ by Teleos soil fumigant helps manage plant-parasitic nematodes before the crop ever goes into the ground, creating a zone of protection where healthy roots can establish and thrive.
Stronger root systems help crops use available water and nutrients more efficiently, withstand stress, and maximize marketable yield and crop quality—giving growers greater peace of mind that they’re getting the most from every acre.
Using TELONE™ in combination with chloropicrin also helps suppress many soilborne diseases that affect potatoes, including verticillium, common scab, rhizoctonia, fusarium, pythium, and more!

Cold nights can have a big impact on strawberry fields, especially during bloom and early fruit development.
Frost protection helps growers safeguard blossoms, reduce crop loss risk, and support stronger yield and fruit quality potential. With the right planning and system support, growers can be better prepared when temperatures drop.
TriEst Ag Group is proud to support strawberry growers with solutions that help protect crop investments throughout the season.
